Boy I miss Illuminations. Do you remember the yummy candle store that always had the best decor? It didnt make it through the 08 meltdown and I still mourn the loss.

Before they closed I bought these two mirrored window boxes. My style was very different back then, and they were sleek and black and fit my hotel chic look. I‘ve held on to them even though I now live in a 104 year old historic house and not my princess bachelorette condo anymore.

The before

This weekend I had the saw and nail gun out for another project and so I grabbed some scrap beadboard and transformed them. I love them so much that I’ve taken to lighting tea lights in them on the daily.

How were they transformed you ask? So simple! I painted over the matte black with some Annie Sloan paint in Paris Grey.

Then I pulled beadboard from my scrap pile and cut four boards for each window. I eyeballed everything and kept the rough edges just as they were for a bit of extra rustic charm.

I nailed the boards on using my brad nailer gun and their transformation is complete!
